Diversify and Balance Your Life

Writing short songs for educational purposes for Wayo University Grad Students presenting on getting better Exercise (see BeABearXercise podcast) and Nutrition (this one on diversifying and balancing what you eat). Singing it with kids from 4 to 84 years old, the gestures of taking something on the right and then the left with the first two lines helps them learn it. Then, making up gestures for diversity and balance can be fun. Go for it!

Take a little bit of this
Take a little bit of that
Take a little bit of this
Take a little bit of that
Diversify and balance Your LIFE

Taught it last week to my students and they reported that as they went through the cafeteria line they started singing it and it make them think about diversity and what was good for them, rather than blindly reaching for what they always ate.
Bonne appetite! Tim

It's rainin' cats n' dogs (raining cats and dogs)
Anits (and it is) cold outside
My sun.//.shine is deep inside

When native speakers speak quickly
"ing" can become just "in",
and "and" can become just "n",
"and it is" can become "anits".

You can practice the simple "n" by saying "cup n saucer, boys n girls, you n me" etc.

In Japanese you can sing it too as

hari toki doki kumori //

Happy laughter for your health.

This is one minute (or less of ) good health. The song in the background goes
"A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances but rather a person with a certain set of attitutdes." (a quote from Hugh Downs) Listening usually will make you laugh and boost your immune system. If you have been on the computer too long, it will give you a break. Remember also to stretch and stand up and dance every 30 minutes. Cheers
